& Registration for Junior Year
College and Career Ready Information
We look forward to meeting with you for your Sophomore College and Career Ready Meeting. Please review the following information and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have:
1. Make sure you are meeting the graduation requirements.
2. If you have failed a class or are behind on credits - please review the options to make up Credit.
3. If you plan on attending college for a degree - take the right classes in high school. You can also start looking at colleges you may be interested in attending.
4. If you plan on playing sports in college - make sure you are NCAA Eligible.
5. As a Junior You have the opportunity for Concurrent Enrollment. This includes:
*Some concurrent enrollment classes require a 3.5 GPA and qualifying score on a placement test
*Concurrent Enrollment VIDEO
6. Take classes that help you explore careers while in high school. If you take career specific classes, you can become a Pathway Completer. For more information please see CTE Pathways.
7. College is not just an Associates or Bachelors degree - it also includes certificates and specific training. Some of this training can be started in high school at Dixie Tech.
8. Start preparing for the ACT next year. Reviewing our ACT Prep options and taking the recommended core curriculum will help improve your score.
9. Keep your GPA up! Your GPA and ACT will determine academic merit scholarships.
10. It is never too soon to start looking for scholarships.
11. Self Care: Proper sleep/nutrition/hygiene - Stress management - Time management
12. Responsibility: School attendance - Completing homework - Self-Advocacy - Digital Responsibility - Communicating responsibly.
